Athletic Highlights: November 27– December 4, 2017
Women's Basketball: Mars Hill lost both of their South Atlantic Conference matchups against Carson-Newman and No. 14 Wingate over the week. The loss to the Eagles opened up conference play for the Lions. Baylea Loven had a team-high eight points and five rebounds. Mars Hill fell to the hands of the Bulldogs on Saturday. The duo of Sheena Johnson and Mariah Johnson combined for 25 points (13 and 12, respectively). Tiffany Holloway pulled down a team-high seven rebounds in her return to action.
Men's Basketball: The Lions opened up SAC play 0-2, dropping both contests against Carson-Newman and Wingate. Charles Moore had a team-high 13 points while Brandon Watkins and Matthew Powell each had 10 points in the loss to the Eagles. Watkins added a team-high seven rebounds. He matched his point output against the Bulldogs and was one rebound shy of a double-double in the loss to the Bulldogs. Vernon Jackson also reached double-figures with 10 points in the contest.
