Athletic Highlights: April 15 – April 22, 2019
Baseball: Mars Hill went 1-1 this past week, defeating Bluefield State in an offensive shootout, 20-18 on Tuesday afternoon, but falling to Anderson in game one of their three-game series Saturday by a mark of 8-6. The Lions wrap up the regular season this week with a doubleheader on Monday versus Anderson and single game on Tuesday versus UVa-Wise.
Softball: The Lions posted a record of 1-1, splitting with Carson-Newman in their home finale. The Lions took game one by a score of 8-2, but dropping game two by a mark of 6-4. Mars Hill wraps up the regular season on Monday, April 22nd with a doubleheader versus Queens on the road.
Men's Golf: Mars Hill placed 11th at the South Atlantic Conference Championships Tuesday afternoon. Stephen Thomasson was the highest placing Lion with a 29th place finish.
Men's Lacrosse: Mars Hill fell to Newberry in an overtime thriller to concluded the 2019 season Saturday afternoon by a score of 18-17. The Lions finished the season with a record of 3-12 with Jake Trafton leading the team with 50 points (25g, 25a).
Women's Lacrosse: The Lions concluded the 2019 season defeating Newberry on Saturday afternoon by a score of 20-11. Mars Hill finished 5-10 on the season with Maria Fabrizio leading the team in points with 51 (26g, 25a).
Men's Track and Field: Mars Hill placed 11th at the South Atlantic Conference Championships Saturday afternoon. The Lions earned 5 points over the two-day event.
Women's Track and Field: The Lions placed seventh overall Saturday afternoon at the South Atlantic Conference Championships. Mars Hill collected 34.5 points with Shaniqua Stevens' win in the triple jump garnering 10 points for the Lions.
