Baseball Loses to Anderson
The Lions lost to Anderson 8-0 in South Atlantic Conference baseball action Friday afternoon at Henderson Field
MARS HILL, N.C. – The Lions lost to Anderson 8-0 in South Atlantic Conference baseball action Friday afternoon at Henderson Field. Mars Hill fell to 20-9 on the season and 6-4 in the league. The Trojans improved to 9-16 overall, 4-6 in the SAC.
Brett Brubaker led Mars Hill offensively going 2-2. Hunter Boydston suffered the loss (4-2) on the mound for the Lions.
Zach McIlroy led the Trojans at the plate going 3-5 with three RBI and a run scored. Steven Cooper went 2-3 with a homerun, a double and two RBI. Nick Contafio picked up the win (2-2) on the mound for Anderson.
Anderson scored three runs in the second inning on five hits. A solo homerun by Steven Cooper in the third inning gave Anderson a 4-0 advantage. A two-run inning for the Trojans in the fourth frame extended Anderson's advantage to 6-0. Anderson added a pair of insurance runs in the ninth inning to make the final tally 8-0 in favor of the visitors. A single by Zach McIlroy accounted for the last two runs.
The teams will conclude the three-game SAC series tomorrow with a double-header beginning at 12 p.m.
