Troy Hall Named SAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Catawba first baseman Chance Bowden has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Player of the Week, and Mars Hill left-handed pitcher Troy Hall has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played April 2-8, the League announced today.

Bowden, a senior from Salisbury, N.C., led Catawba to a 3-1 record last week, including a weekend sweep of Newberry in SAC play. In the three-game conference series, Bowden went 11-for-15 (.733) with three home runs and seven RBI. He hit two home runs in the opening game of the series and capped off the weekend with a walk-off homer in the final game. For the week, Bowden batted .632 with 12 hits, including two doubles and three home runs with seven RBI and seven runs scored.

Hall, a junior from Greeneville, Tenn., made three appearances on the mound for the Lions last week, earning a win and two saves. He threw six innings, allowing four hits, no earned runs and had two strikeouts. He earned saves against UVA-Wise and Piedmont International, while picking up a win against SAC foe Carson-Newman.

This is Bowden's third Player of the Week honor this season, while this is Hall's first Pitcher of the Week accolade.
