Honeycutt named to preseason NCBWA All-America Third Team
Mars Hill senior catcher Matt Honeycutt was named to the 2019 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) preseason All-America Third Team, as announced Tuesday afternoon.
PEMBROKE, N.C. - Mars Hill senior catcher Matt Honeycutt was named to the 2019 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) preseason All-America Third Team, as announced Tuesday afternoon.
Honeycutt, a native of China Grove, North Carolina, recorded 69 hits including 15 home runs and 14 doubles while driving in 49 RBI in 2018. He batted .399, which was good for third in the South Atlantic Conference. His postseason accolades included SAC First Team All-Conference, NCBWA All-Southeast Region First Team and D2CCA All-Southeast Region First Team honors, American Baseball Coaches of America (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Southeast Region Second Team as well as an honorable mention All-American for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
During the week of January 21, Honeycutt was named to the preseason All-SAC First Team and NCBWA preseason All-Southeast Region First Team. Earlier in the month, he was named as a preseason Southeast Region All-American.
