Honeycutt homers twice versus Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Mars Hill baseball team (17-25, 4-17 SAC) was felled by a score of 8-6 versus Anderson (18-28, 7-15 SAC) Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans scored four unanswered runs to come away with the win. Trailing 6-4 in the bottom of the fifth, Dillon Carpenter's solo home run pulled Anderson within one. They knotted the game at six off of Brandon Odachowski's RBI single.
In the bottom of the sixth, following a wild pitch that gave the Trojans the 7-6 advantage, Carpenter's RBI groundout added an insurance run.
Mars Hill took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the first off Adam Plouffe's two-run home run, his fourth of the season. Anderson erased the lead in the same frame. After Carpenter's RBI single cut the Mars Hill lead in half, Chandler Castleberry's two-run home run put Anderson up 3-2 after one.
Each team scored one run in the third. Matt Honeycutt launched a home run over the left field wall to tie the game at three, but in the bottom of the stanza, Odachowski put the Trojans up 4-3 with a RBI single to left field.
The Lions used two home runs in the top of the fifth to retake the lead. Devin Mangum hit a solo home run to right center field and later in the frame, Honeycutt hit his second of the game, a two-run shot to left center field.
Carpenter led the Trojans with three hits and three RBI. Honeycutt paced the Lions' offense with two home runs and three RBI.
The Lions will wrap up the three-game series with Anderson on Monday, April 22nd with a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
