Mars Hill sweeps series versus Anderson
The Mars Hill baseball team (14-16, 8-6 SAC) completed a three-game SAC series sweep against Anderson University (15-13, 2-10 SAC) on Saturday afternoon at Don Henderson Field.

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill baseball team (14-16, 8-6 SAC) completed a three-game SAC series sweep against Anderson University (15-13, 2-10 SAC) on Saturday afternoon at Don Henderson Field.
Game One
A late offensive push in the first game propelled the Lions over the Trojans by a score of 19-7.
After falling to a six-run deficit through four innings of play, the Lions were able to get that bats rolling to score 19 runs over the next five innings and hold the Trojans to only one more. A pair of Zach Weaver home runs and a Jordan Lathe homer provided seven of the Lions' runs, while Scottie Lee and Chad Sikes each supplied three. Nine Lions recorded hits in the contest while eight scored runs.
Spencer Nifong entered the game in relief of starter, Barrett Williams, allowing a single run through 2.1 innings to earn his second win of the year. Trojan's reliever Landon Henley, threw 1.1 innings of play allowing five runs on four hits and was given the loss.
Game Two
A strong pitching performance from AJ Chacon held the Trojans to three runs, allowing the Lions to take the series sweep in the final game by a score of 6-3.
Chacon threw a complete game, striking out three, to earn his second win of the year. Anderson's Andrew Imperatore pitched 3.2 innings, giving up five runs on seven hits and was given the loss.
The Lions opened the scoring in the first inning thanks to a Tyler Lala two-run home run that plated Alex Naran. The Lions would add a pair in the following inning from singles by Weaver and Sikes. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Weaver would launch his third homer of the day, pulling the Lions' lead to three.
The Lions are back in action of Tuesday, as they play hosts to Young Harris. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Don Henderson Field.
