Mars Hill downs Anderson in non-conference play

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Mars Hill baseball team (13-22) defeated Anderson (17-16) by a score of 5-1 Tuesday afternoon in non-conference play.
Paul Martin opened the scoring in the top of the first with a solo home run to left center field. In the top of the third, the Lions bumped their lead to four as Zach Weaver blasted a three-run home run to left.
Alex Naran added to the lead in the top of the fourth with a RBI single that plated Chad Sikes.
Kye Andress' sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth was the lone Trojans' run scored.
Naran and Weaver led all players with three hits apiece while Weaver led all players with three RBI.
Grady Bivens earned his third win of the season, throwing five shutout innings, allowing just three hits. The Lions' bullpen allowed just two hits in the final four innings.
Mars Hill returns to South Atlantic Conference play on Friday, April 5 when they open their weekend series on the road versus Catawba. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
