Holmes, Goode, Harbison, Williams Earn BSN All-Super Region Honors
Four Mars Hill football student-athletes have been named to the 2014 Beyond Sports Network (BSN) Division II All-Super Region teams.
LEESBURG, Va.- Four Mars Hill football student-athletes have been named to the 2014 Beyond Sports Network (BSN) Division II All-Super Region teams. Dimitri Holmes earned first team honors at wide receiver and third team accolades as a kick returner, with Jamel Harbison, Marquez Williams and Denzell Goode each earning a spot on the third team.
Holmes, a BSN Preseason All-America recipient, was the South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Year as he caught 50 passes for 782 yards and seven touchdowns. Dimitri was the AstroTurf SAC Offensive Player of the Week on September 15 after he set the conference record for career receiving yards in a 27-20 loss to Shorter. Holmes ends his illustrious career as the SAC record holder in career receiving yards (4,231) and career receptions (267). He is third among active NCAA Division II players in career receptions as well as receiving yards per game (100.6) and third in receiving yards. He was a first team All-SAC honoree and earned his second consecutive DAKTRONICS All-Region honor last week as a wide receiver.
As the primary kickoff returner for the Lions, Holmes brought back 22 kickoffs for 598 yards and two touchdowns with an average of 24.5 yards per return. Holmes was named the AstroTurf SAC Special Teams Player of the Week on September 29 and as the second team All-SAC return specialist.
Goode earned second team DAKTRONICS All-Region honors and has been chosen to the All-SAC first team for the past two seasons. Goode was a key part of an offensive line that opened holes for Harbison and a passing attack that finished second in the league, averaging 215 yards per game.
Harbison ran for 1,204 yards on 227 carries with nine touchdowns and earned AstroTurf Offensive Player of the Week honors on October 13 after running for 290 yards and three touchdowns against Brevard on October 11. Harbison was an All-SAC second team selection at running back.
Williams, an All-SAC second team selection, earned BSN All-Super Region honors after he caught seven passes for 100 yards and had one rushing touchdown.
Each college was allowed to vote twice for players in their Super Region. A sports information director and a football coach from the college were given the opportunity to vote. Players that are selected for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Team All Region are eligible to be selected for the 2014 BSN D2 Football All America Team.
