Thiam Leads Division II in Rebounding
Senior also ranks among nation's leaders in double-doubles
MARS HILL, N.C.-- Mars Hill's Khouraichi Thiam is enjoying a solid senior season and ranks among the nation's leaders in rebounding and double-doubles.
Thiam currently leads all of NCAA Division II in rebounding average, and is second in the nation in double-doubles. The senior forward is pulling down an average of 11.6 rebounds per contest. He has 13 double-doubles on the season, and carries a streak of six consecutive double-doubles into tonight's 8:00 p.m. contest at Carson-Newman. Thiam is the Lions leading scorer at 14.3 points per game.
During Thiam's six-game streak with a double-double, he has averaged 17.7 points and 12.1 rebounds per contest. Thiam is coming off a career-high 19-rebound, 20-point performance against Brevard in which he also blocked two shots.
In addition to ranking among the nation's leaders in these categories, Thiam leads the South Atlantic Conference in offensive rebounds per game (3.1) and ranks second in the conference with 2.3 blocks per game. Thiam's rebounding average of 11.6 is nearly three rebounds per game better than the second-best rebounder in the SAC.
