Men's Golf Finishes In Eighth; Hartzog And Lumley Named To All-Tournament Team
ETOWAH, N.C. – The Mars Hill men’s golf team concluded the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Men’s Championships with an eighth place finish on Tuesday, April 19.
ETOWAH, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's golf team concluded the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Men's Championships with an eighth place finish on Tuesday, April 19. The Lions posted a final round of 301 (+13).
Senior Chevy Hartzog was named to the first team all-tournament list after firing a team-best 72 (E) on the final 18 holes of the tournament. He concluded the 54-hole event with a total score of 219 (+3), good enough for a tie for fifth place.
Junior Adam Lumley was named to the second team all-tournament list with his stellar performance over the past three days. Lumley posted a final round 74 (+2) to bring his three-day total to 220 (+4), placing him in a tie for seventh.
Not too far behind them was Alejandro Canizares who shot a 76 (+4) on the day, bringing his tournament total to 225 (+10) and earning him a tie for 21st position. Levi Neeson was in a tie for 51st following a concluding round of 79 (+7) while Nick Caruso finished in a deadlock for 56th, firing an 84 (+12).
As a team, Mars Hill ranked first in the overall standings with 104 made pars while finishing in a tie for third with 27 birdies. The Lions averaged a score of 4.80 (-8) on par-5s for the tournament, good enough for a tie for fourth.
Lincoln Memorial captured the team title with a score of 879 (+15) while Coker's Will Bundy took home the top individual honor following a 54-hole score of 217 (+1). Carson-Newman's 882 (+18) finished second and Coker grabbed third with an 890 (+26). Queens and Wingate rounded out the top-5 with team scores of 891 (+27) and 893 (+29), respectively.
