Lacrosse Wins at Belmont Abbey
The Lions’ lacrosse team defeated Belmont Abbey on the road, 12-11 Saturday afternoon.

BELMONT, N.C. – The Lions' lacrosse team defeated Belmont Abbey on the road, 12-11 Saturday afternoon. Mars Hill improved to 1-3 on the season while the Crusaders fell to 1-4 overall.
Jimmy McBride led MHU with four goals followed by Ryan Sage with three. Adam Zulak and Hunter Maggs added two goals apiece. A.J. Seip led MHU with two assists in the win. Patrick McMahon played all 60 minutes in goal for the Lions and made 11 saves.
Connor Sellars led the Crusaders with three goals followed by Joey McGinley and Scotty Steele with two goals each. Brett Lawless also played the entire game in the net for BAC and made 11 saves.
The Lions out shot the Crusaders 38-34, won the ground ball battle, 27-21 and won 18-26 face-offs. The Lions were 1-2 on extra-man opportunities while the Crusaders were 0-4 on extra-man opportunities
.The Lions won the first quarter 6-3 while each team scored four goals apiece in the second frame to give the Lions a 10-7 advantage at the break.
The Crusaders won the third and fourth quarters by a 2-1 margin but the Lions were able to hold on to a 12-11 victory. The Lions never trailed in the contest.
