Lacrosse Ends Season with 10-8 Loss at Wheeling Jesuit
Mars Hill’s lacrosse team ended the 2014 campaign with a 10-8 loss at Wheeling Jesuit Saturday afternoon at James LaRosa Stadium.

WHEELING, W. Va. – Mars Hill's lacrosse team ended the 2014 campaign with a 10-8 loss at Wheeling Jesuit Saturday afternoon at James LaRosa Stadium. The Lions finished the season 7-8 overall while WJU improved to 10-2 on the season.
Adam Zulak led MHU scoring two goals and adding one assist. Anthony Malcolm also scored a pair of goals while Ryan Sage and Jimmy McBride tallied a goal and an assist apiece. Patrick McMahon played all 60 minutes in goal for MHU and made 21 saves.
Landon DelPrince led WJU with four goals followed by Wickett with three. Joe Amsler also played all 60 minutes in the net for Wheeling Jesuit and made nine saves.
Wheeling Jesuit out shot the Lions 47-20. WJU won the ground ball battle, 30-20 and won 19-24 faceoffs. MHU was 0-3 in extra-man opportunities while WJU went 1-1.
After Mars Hill jumped out to a 3-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, WJU outscored the Lions 5-1 in the second frame to take a 6-4 lead into the locker room at halftime. Tyler Wickett scored a man-up goal at the seven minute mark to notch what would later prove to be the game winning goal.
MHU outscored Wheeling Jesuit 3-2 in the third quarter to trim the Lions' deficit to 8-7 but that was as close as MHU would get. WJU added two insurance goals in the fourth quarter to make the final tally 10-8 in favor of the hosts.
