Lacrosse Loses to Queens
The Lions lost to Queens 14-10 in South Atlantic Conference lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Lions lost to Queens 14-10 in South Atlantic Conference lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Mars Hill fell to 1-3 on the season and 1-2 in the SAC. The Royals improved to 3-4 overall, 2-0 in the league.
Ryan Sage led MHU with four goals and one assist followed by Jimmy McBride with three goals and two assists. Anthony Malcom added three goals and one assist. Jack Grinewich played all 60 minutes in goal for the Lions and made 15 saves.
Evan Farkas led the Royals with four goals and three assists while Garrett Chan recorded three goals. Casey Hock added two goals and the same number of assists. Eric Dolan also played the entire contest in the net for Queens and made seven saves.
Queens outshot the Lions, 47-27 and won the ground ball battle, 37-26. Queens won 17-27 face-offs. The Royals were 3-5 on extra-man opportunities while MHU was 1-3. Turnovers were even at 16 per team.
Queens won the first quarter 6-2 while the Lions held a 4-2 advantage in the second frame to send the teams into the locker room at halftime with the Royals holding an 8-6 lead. Queens outscored the Lions 5-2 in the third to lead 13-8 going into the last period. The Lions won the fourth quarter 2-1 to make the final tally 14-10 in favor of the visitors. Queens never trailed in the game.
Mars Hill will host SAC rival Tusculum College on Thursday, March 12. Game time is set to begin at 4 p.m.
