Lacrosse Obtains Third Straight Win
The Lions’ lacrosse team won its third game in a row with a 7-6 victory over South Atlantic Conference rival Lincoln Memorial on the road Saturday afternoon
HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lions' lacrosse team won its third game in a row with a 7-6 victory over South Atlantic Conference rival Lincoln Memorial on the road Saturday afternoon. Mars Hill improved to 3-8 overall and 3-4 in the league. The Railsplitters fell to 6-4 on the season and 2-4 in the SAC.
LMU outshot the Lions 49-21 but Ryan Kearney who played all 60 minutes in goal for Mars Hill tied his season and personal career high 18 saves in the win. LMU edged the Lions in ground balls, 26-22. The Railsplitters won 11-17 face-offs. Mars Hill was 1-1 in extra-man opportunities while LMU was 0-1.
Dima Ferriera led Mars Hill with four goals while Jake Trafton added a goal and an assist. Josh Bryers and Dylan Livingston tallied a goal apiece in the victory.
Kyle Arcuri led LMU with two goals. Joe Medel also played 60 minutes in the net for the Railsplitters and made four saves.
Lincoln Memorial led 2-1 after the first quarter and took a 4-3 advantage into the locker room at the intermission after each team scored a pair of goals in the second frame.
Mars Hill then scored three unanswered goals in the third stanza to lead 6-4 heading into the final period. After LMU scored goals at the 4:29 and 3:17 mark to tie the contest, Livingston notched the game winner with 24 seconds left in regulation off a pass from A.J. Seip.
Mars Hill will play at SAC foe Tusculum on Wednesday, April 13. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
