Kearney, Ferreira earn All-SAC honors
Mars Hill’s Ryan Kearney and Dima Ferreira each made 2018 All-South Atlantic Conference teams, as announced by the league on Thursday afternoon. Kearney was placed on the All-SAC Second Team and Ferreira was named to the All-SAC Honorable Mention team.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Mars Hill's Ryan Kearney and Dima Ferreira each made 2018 All-South Atlantic Conference teams, as announced by the league on Thursday afternoon. Kearney was placed on the All-SAC Second Team and Ferreira was named to the All-SAC Honorable Mention team.
Kearney, the senior goalkeeper from Tallahassee, Florida recorded a career-high 227 saves while starting in all 14 games of the 2018 season. He averaged 16.21 saves per game which ranked second in the nation in DII men's lacrosse. He recorded 20 or more saves twice in the season, including a season-opening 27 saves against Mount Olive. Kearney posted an 85.7 save percentage in the 17-6 win over Shorter for the Lions first win of the season.
Ferreira, a senior attack from Abingdon, Virginia, recorded two or more in points in 13 of 14 games and led the Lions with 45 points, which was a career-high. The mark was 20 better than second place (Alex Lipsky, 25 points). Ferreira posted a career-high 27 assists and added 18 goals, good for second on the team.
