Lions fall to North Greenville in non-conference action

TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (3-8) was defeated 23-5 by North Greenville (3-8) in non-conference play Wednesday evening.
Tremain Hill scored the game's opening goal just 29 seconds into the contest. Less than two minutes later, Chris Carpenter knotted the game at one and his first marker of the game became the catalyst for a 5-0 run that carried over into the second frame. Thomas Cecere scored twice in the first with both of his goals assisted by Derrick Shealy.
The Lions scored two goals in eight seconds in the second with Hill netting his second and Jake Trafton following. The Crusaders reeled off six of the final seven goals with Ethan Landreth and Carpenter netting two apiece to give North Greenville the 10-3 lead with 4:45 left in the half. Mars Hill's Devin Thorpe cut the deficit to six, but 1:07 later, Fletcher Stevenson's marker reestablished the seven-goal advantage.
North Greenville shut the Lions out in the third stanza, scoring seven goals. Landreth recorded three. In the final frame, Kenny Wessels picked up three points (2g, 1a) while Spencer Andrews scored the lone Lions' marker of the second half.
Landreth led all players with six goals while Cecere picked up five points (3g, 2a). Hill led the Lions with two goals.
Cameron Meyer made eight saves in the win, while Joel Borman stopped nine in the loss.
Mars Hill returns to South Atlantic Conference play when they host Queens on Saturday, April 6th. Faceoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
