Mars Hill felled by North Greenville at home
The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (3-5) was defeated Wednesday evening by a score of 19-8 versus North Greenville (5-4) in non-conference play.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (3-5) was defeated Wednesday evening by a score of 19-8 versus North Greenville (5-4) in non-conference play.
North Greenville carried a 5-0 lead into the second quarter with five different goal scorers. The Lions got on the board 1:30 into the second frame with Zac Carrigan's man-up goal. The Crusaders responded with another 5-0 run led by Gunnar Wilson's two markers and Thomas Cecere's second of the contest. Carrigan netted his second of the game with just over two minutes left in the half.
The Crusaders continued their offensive dominance in the third frame, outscoring the Lions 8-3. Cecere collected his 30th of the season to put North Greenville up 16-4 with 5:36 remaining in the quarter. Carrigan netted his hat-trick tally in the frame with other Lions' goals coming from the sticks of Spencer Andrews and Zach Wright.
Justin Lundy potted two goals in the final frame for Mars Hill while Tremain Hill assisted on two tallies.
Wilson led all players with five points (3g, 2a) followed by Cecere's four (3g, 1a). Carrigan paced the Lions' offense with three goals while both Andrews and Lundy collected two goals and one assist apiece.
Mars Hill returns to South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday, March 14 when they host the Cobras of Coker University. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
