No. 25 Men’s Soccer Defeats Limestone
MARS HILL, N.C. - The No. 25-ranked Mars Hill men's soccer team capitalized on a late goal to defeat Limestone College, 2-1 Wednesday night at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Mars Hill improves to 6-0-1 and broke the school record for most consecutive non-losses at seven games. Limestone falls to 4-3 on the year.
Stephen Bivens (Douglasville, Ga.) scored on a cross from Brandon Tardioli (Ottawa, Canada) with 48 seconds left in the match to lift MHC to victory.
Keegan Ziada scored the first goal of the match to give the Saints a 1-0 lead at the 15:42 mark. The goal was scored off a deflection sent in by Larry Mahon. The teams carried that score into the locker room at halftime.
Richard Osterloh (Sao Paulo, Brazil) passed the ball to Tardioli who scored from 10 yards out to tie the match at 1-all at the 56:28 mark.
Zac Scott (Pittsboro, N.C.) recorded five saves for Mars Hill. H.B. Lockwood made three saves for Limestone.
The Lions outshot the Saints 17-16.
Mars Hill host SAC rival Catawba College on Saturday. The game at Meares Stadium will begin at 3:30 p.m.
