GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Lions dropped an evenly contested 1-0 road game against the Mount Olive Trojans on the road Sunday afternoon. The match took place at MacPherson Stadium.
Mount Olive struck at 20:32 of the first half with the lone goal of the game. Tyler Hall scored his first of the season, beating Lions' goalkeeper Ben Lucas to the far right side.
Both teams traded chances throughout the contest with both goalies making key saves for their respective squads.
Lucas made five saves on six attempts at net while Grant Eshelman stopped all four that came his way.
The Lions and Trojans each attempted eight shots and were awarded three corner kicks.
"Today was a tough loss," head coach Gary Hamel said afterwards. "We had chances, but didn't put them away. We have to be better with our opportunities."
Mars Hill (0-2) will be back in action Wednesday, September 6 versus King. Their home opener is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
