CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Joakim Lien's second goal of the season was the only marker needed for the Mars Hill men's soccer team to pick up a key conference victory on the road against Queens Saturday night. The goal marks his second game-winner of the 2017 campaign.
After a scoreless first half and inside the final two minutes of regulation, Lien kicked in the lone goal of the contest past Royals' goalkeeper Sergio Lemus.
The Lions were outshot 18-6 and edged in corner kicks awarded, 7-2. Ben Lucas picked up his third shutout of the season with five saves.
Mars Hill improves to 4-5-1 (3-2-1 SAC) while Queens drops to 4-4-4 (1-3-3 SAC).
The Lions return to the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium Tuesday, October 10 where they will battle Lander. The match is set for a 7:30 p.m. start time.
