BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (2-1-0) was defeated 5-1 at the hands of Lees-McRae (1-2-0) Wednesday night.
The Bobcats struck early when Johannes Oeksnevad headed in his second of the season just over eight minutes into the contest. Harvey McMorrow picked up the first of his two assists on the night. Lees-McRae doubled their lead as Oeksnevad set up Agustin Ortiz's first goal of the year in the 31st minute.
Twenty minutes into the second half, Pol Vassart scored his first of the year to extend the Bobcats' lead to three. Mars Hill's Sebastian Bertilsson scored his second goal in as many games to cut the lead back down to two with just over 20 minutes remaining in the contest.
Despite the Lions' marker, the Bobcats added two more insurance markers, including Vassart's second of the game with under six minutes left in the game and Bryce Horan's tally with 40 seconds remaining.
