MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's soccer team (5-5-1, 2-4-1 SAC) earned a 1-1 draw with Newberry (3-7-2, 2-2-1 SAC) Wednesday evening at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
With just over 12 minutes remaining in the contest, Fabrizio Bucco scored the lone goal of the game for the Wolves to edge out Mars Hill. With under four minutes left in the game, Adnan Saltagic's second goal of the year tied the contest at one and forced the overtime frame.
Newberry had three shot attempts to Mars Hill's two in the overtime frames, but no saves were needed by either goalkeeper.
The first half was a tight defensive battle, with only one shot finding its way to either team's nets. Bucco had the lone shot on goal. Sebastian Bertilsson attempted four shots in the opening 45 minutes.
Brian Salzman had four saves on the night.
Mars Hill hosts Shaw in non-conference action on Saturday, October 13th inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The contest is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
