Eight seniors recognized in season finale

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's soccer team (6-7-2, 2-6-2 SAC) were shutout 3-0 against Queens (10-4-1, 7-3-0 SAC) Saturday afternoon inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
With less than seven minutes remaining in the half, the Royals drew a penalty within the box and earned a penalty kick. Liam Doyle scored his fourth of the year, placing the ball inside the left post to put Queens up by one entering the half.
The Royals capitalized on another penalty kick opportunity just minutes into the second frame. Oemer Okyar scored his first of the season to put Queens up 2-0 just over five minutes into the second half. A goal with eight minutes remaining put Queens up by three. A crossing pass from Michael Hornsby found the head of Austin Clamon, who put the ball against the grain and kissed it off of the far right post to give the Royals the three-goal advantage.
Henry Louque made three saves in 51:24 of action. Brian Salzman had four stops in 38:36 of the first half. Sebastian Kalk made three stops in the shutout.
Prior to the start of the contest, eight seniors were recognized for their contributions to the team and program. The seniors included Elliot Tate, Cam Macer, Oscar Mitchell, Sam Roe, Camilo Gutierrez, Henrik Michelet, McKenzie Shubert and Matthew Jackson.
The Lions ended the regular season with a record of 6-7-2, 2-6-2 SAC.
