MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (2-5-1, 0-4-0 SAC) was defeated by a score of 3-0 to No. 12 Wingate (5-0-1, 3-0-0 SAC) Wednesday night.
Just 1:35 into the game, Paul Ngongo slipped by the Mars Hill goalkeeper and slid home his fifth goal of the season to put Wingate up early. Less than three minutes later, Elliot Cutts doubled the Bulldog lead with his fifth of the season. Daniel Kuper, in the 19th minute, recorded his third of the season.
Mars Hill had several opportunities in the second half including a Roberto Haddad shot that slipped through the hands of Jens Bergendorff and rang off the far post, narrowly missing the opening marker the Lions.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, October 5 when they host Shaw in non-conference play. Action is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start.
