MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's soccer team (4-10-1) picked up a 4-1 win over USC Aiken (3-7-1) in non-conference action Wednesday evening.
The Lions struck twice in the first half, carrying the 2-0 lead into the half. Jordan Lennon netted his second of the season from a difficult angle, curving the shot in from the far sideline and tucking the ball inside the far post in the 15th minute.
Less than four minutes later, Joakim Lien's fourth of the year doubled the Mars Hill lead. As the Pacers' goalkeeper, Kenneth Kalek, attempted to clear the ball, but the punt ricocheted off of Lien's outstretched foot and trickled into the net to put the Lions up by two.
The Lions kept up the offensive attack by tacking on two more goals in the second half. Beating a defender and the charging goalie, Adnan Saltagic recorded his first marker of the season to put Mars Hill up by three. Less than one minute later, the Pacers dropped the lead down to two as David Box buried a shot low, inside the far post.
In the 60th minute, Roberto Haddad hammered home a free kick from just outside the box to reestablish the three goal advantage for his second of the season.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, October 26 when they take on Queens on the road. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
