MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's soccer team (2-2-5, 0-0-4 SAC) drew with Carson-Newman (3-2-2, 1-1-1 SAC) by a score of 2-2 Wednesday night.
Just 2:11 into the second half, the Lions tied the contest up at two as Jorge Perez Prada headed home a Nolan McMillen thrown in for his third of the season. The Lions had several chances in the final five minutes of play, but the Carson-Newman defense stood firm, clinching on to the result.
The Eagles struck twice in the first half, just five minutes apart. Thomas De Graaw netted his second of the season, launching a low shot that found its way inside the near post. He later assisted on Ben Dukes' second of the year as Dukes' cross deflected off a Lion defender, into the back of the net.
Mars Hill cut the lead in half as Peter Plougmand buried his fifth of the season off of a Perez Prada pass just three minutes after Dukes' tally.
Plougmand led all players with 11 shot attempts. Perez Prada and De Graaw led their respective teams with three points on the night (1g, 1a).
James Price made four saves on the evening.
