Lions end day one of BMC Championships in seventh

The Mars Hill men's swim team opened up the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships Wednesday night by ending day one in seventh place.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's swim team opened up the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships Wednesday night by ending day one in seventh place.

Matt Kowalczyk placed 22nd overall in the 1000 yard freestyle race with a time of 10:08.66.

The team of Harrison Butler, Elijah Sears, Erwin Ortiz and Vitor Goncalves placed seventh in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:34.29.  Ortiz, Goncalves, Kowalczyk and Michael Piumelli placed seventh in the 800 yard freestyle relay, turning in a time of 7:06.72.

The Lions accumulated 48 points on the day.
