Mars Hill narrowly edged by Tornado in home meet
The Mars Hill men's swim team was defeated by a single point, 121-120, versus King Saturday afternoon.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's swim team was defeated by a single point, 121-120, versus King Saturday afternoon.
Erwin Ortiz won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.78 to pick up nine points for the Lions. Ortiz also won the 100 and 500 yard freestyles to pick up another 18 points. Teaming with Matthew Kowalczyk, Ryan Adams, and Alex Bouhlel, the Lions picked up 11 points for their first place finish in the 4x100 freestyle relay.
Brendon Cyprianos won the 100 and 200 yard backstroke with times of 55.61 and 2:02.30, respectively. Bruno Ferrari took home the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:02.44 and the 200 yard butterfly in 2:02.02.
Matthew Goslin picked up nine points for Mars Hill with his win in the 200 yard breaststroke, turning in a time of 2:19.42.

Mars Hill returns to the pool on Saturday, November 2 when they take on Converse and Chowan on the road. The meet is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
