Mars Hill finishes seventh at Fall Frenzy
The Mars Hill men's swim team placed seventh at the Fall Frenzy held over the weekend.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's swim team placed seventh at the Fall Frenzy held over the weekend.
Mars Hill totaled 262.5 points over the three-day meet.
The quartet of Thomas Gibson, Ronin Pettit, Gavriel Hason, and Matthew Goslin placed eighth in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:27.73, earning 44 points.
In the 500 yard freestyle, Raul Briceno placed second in the bonus final--18th overall--with a time of 4:41.29 to earn seven points for the Lions. In the 1650 yard freestyle, he placed 15th overall with a time of 16:30.90 for 12 points.
Gibson placed 12th ovearll and fifth in consolation final with a time of 20.96, accumulating 14 points. In the 200 yard freestyle, he placed 22nd overall, sixth in the bonus final with a time of 1:45.46, earning an additional three points. He also finished 12th in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 45.92 for 14.5 points, tying with Micah McRea of Lenoir-Rhyne.
Briceno, Goslin, Hason, and Gibson placed 11th in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:31.72, picking up 32 points. Briceno, Pettit, Hason, and Gibson finished 10th in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.74, earning another 34 points for the Lions.
Goslin, in the 100 yard breaststroke, placed 17th overall, first in the bonus final with a time of 58.02 for nine points. He placed seventh in the Championship final of the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:06.16 for 23 points.
The group of Briceno, Hason, Goslin, and Samuel Brooks placed 10th in the 800 yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:14.02 for 34 points.
Hason, in the 200 yard butterfly, swam a time of 1:58.26 for 21st overall and four points.
In the 400 yard freestyle relay, the crew of Gibson, Pettit, Goslin, and Briceno finished 11th with a time of 3:13.89 for 32 points.

Mars Hill returns to the pool on Saturday, December 4 when they swim against Catawba. The meet is set for a 2 p.m. start.
