Lions Fall to UNC Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C.- The Mars Hill men's tennis teams took on NCAA Division I rival UNC Asheville on Sunday at the Asheville Racquet Club with the host Bulldogs recording an 8-1 victory.

Junior Euquerio Guerrero picked up the lone win for the Lions, defeating Thomas Panoulos in three sets in the first singles flight. Guerrero won the first set, 6-4, before dropping the second set by an identical margin. Guerrero earned the win in the third set, claiming the super tiebreaker with a 10-6 victory.

Two other matches were closely contested.  Guerrero and Sam Lee came up a point short, 8-7, in the first doubles flight. Alberto Ortiz won the first set in the third singles flight, 6-4, before UNC Asheville's John Schubel won the second set and earned a 6-3 victory in the third set. 

Mars Hill returns to the court on Saturday, February 15 against Queens.
