Doubles Defeats Doom Lions in Loss to Catawba

MARS HILL, N.C.- The Mars Hill men's tennis team won four singles match but Catawba won all three doubles matches and claimed a 5-4 victory in the match at Hart Tennis Center on Wednesday. Mars Hill drops to 7-8 overall and 3-7 in the South Atlantic Conference while Catawba improves to 13-9 and 3-6.

Euquerio Guerrero, Alberto Ortiz, Carlos Suares Riesco and Sam Lee each won their singles matches. Guerrero was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Pierce Hoover at number one singles, while Ortiz dispatched of Jack Mordey 7-5, 6-4 on the second singles court. Riesco won in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 over Michael Patch. Lee was a 6-2, 6-2 victor over Mitchell McDonald.

Hoover and Mordey defeated Guerrero and Ortiz 9-8 in a tiebreaker on the top doubles court and claimed the other two doubles matches 8-6 and 8-3.

Mars Hill concludes the 2014-15 season while honoring its seniors on Saturday at Noon against Tusculum.
