Lion Runners Have Strong Day at Niswonger Invite
The Mars Hill men’s and women’s track team wrapped up the 2014 Niswonger Invitational with several outstanding performances.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Mars Hill men's and women's track team wrapped up the 2014 Niswonger Invitational with several outstanding performances. The Niswonger Invitational was held on the campus of East Tennessee State University.
Tre'von Gee finished in fifth place in the men's 60 Meter High Hurdles with a time of 8.42. Gee was one of six finalists among 37 entrants in that event. In the men's 1600 Meter Run, Hunter Townsend finished with a personal best 4:54.36. Kiel Bollaro was the highest finishing Lion runner in the men's 5000 Meter Run, finishing in 12th place with a time of 16:38.75. Mars Hill also had success in the field, as Dwayne Boone cleared a height of 1.83 meters (6 feet) in the high jump.
Faith Trammel finished in third place in the women's 5000 Meter Run with a time of 19:12.34. Trammel was the highest finishing Division II athlete, finishing behind runners from East Tennessee State and Austin Peay University. Also in the 5000 Meter Run, Megan Smith ran a personal best 20:44.88. Jessica Viscusi finished in 10th place in the women's 1 Mile Invitational Division, composed largely of NCAA Division I athletes. Tocarra Jeffries ran a personal best 8.83 in the 60 Meter Dash.
The Lions will take to the track again in two weeks at the JDL Hilton Garden Invitational.
