JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – The Mars Hill men's track team wrapped up the concluding day of the Niswonger Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State University in grand fashion.
Justin Gragg set a new school record in the 3000m race as he took first place in the event. Gragg's time of 8:25.86 replaces the previous record of 8:41 held by Daniel Amick. The time is also a national provisional qualifying time and currently ranks 8th in the nation. David Jones finished 5th in the event and also broke the school record with a time of 8:35.92.
The one mile run proved to be a stellar event for the Lions' runners as they placed four in the top-25. Chase Shermer finished in 12th with a time of 4:47.97, while Noah Allison finished 15th with a time of 4:51.92. Daniel Lerner (4:54.81) and Nathan Wheeler (5:04.67) finished 18th and 21st respectively.
Alex Griggs captured a 3rd place finish in the 5000m race, crossing the line at 15:15.41 and James Gilreath came in 7th with a finish time of 15:31.28.
