Track Teams Have Good Showing At Charlotte 49er Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's and women's track teams took part in the Charlotte 49er Classic March 17-19 on the campus of UNC-Charlotte. The two teams, consisting of a handful of runners, showed great determination against stiff competition.

On the men's side, Nick Resor continued his terrific year, setting a new personal-best in the 5000 meter race. Resor was able to destroy his old mark by one minute and fifteen seconds, crossing the line at 15:35.80.

Chase Shermer was able to pick up a 32^nd place finish in the 1500, finishing with a time of 4:04.37. Dontonio Garrison competed in the 800 and tallied 75^th overall with a time of 2:03.89.

Kedar Peeples was the only individual to participate in more than one event. He tested his quickness in the 100 and 200, collecting places of 65^th and 81^st, respectively.

As for the women, Shelby Robinson crossed the line in 45^th place during the 5000 meter race, the second-fastest time of her career. Taylor Jordan was able to take home a top-20 finish in the javelin, hitting a distance of 33.27 meters, good for 19^th.

The two teams will return to action on Friday, March 25 as they head back to Charlotte to take on Wingate University.
