New Personal Records Established As T&F Concludes Montreat Meet

MONTREAT, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's and women's track team concluded the Montreat College Track Meet on Saturday, April 1.
On the men's side Spencer Shade captured a first place finish in the pole vault after clearing 3.95 meters. Teammates Brandon Beard and Noah Allison turned in PRs in the 1500 meter event, finishing in times of 4:02 and 4:04, respectively, while Markece Cunningham earned a spot in the finals of the shot put with a distance of 12.91 meters.
As for the women, Jordan Bair finished first in the pole vault with a launch of 3.20 meters. Sydney Britt ran a 2:31 in the 800 meter race, beating her old season-best by six seconds while also anchoring the 4X100 relay team to a season-best time of 51.08.
Other runners to contribute a personal-best for the Lions were Alyssa Deno (28:53, 200m), Rachel Strickland (20:50, 5k), Nyla Feeney (21:01, 5k), and LeeAnn Farr (29m, discus). Rounding out the top performers was Samantha Burns who qualified for the finals in the triple jump with a distance of 9.77m.
Both teams will be back in action next week, traveling to Charlotte, N.C. to compete at Johnson C. Smith University.
