The Mars Hill men's track and field team opened the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Championships on Thursday afternoon.

HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's track and field team opened the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Championships on Thursday afternoon.

Austin Prince finished eighth in the decathlon, accumulating 2,426 points.  Prince's best finish in the decathlon came in the high jump, placing sixth with a mark of 1.65 meters.  

In the 400 meter hurdles qualifying round, Joshua Vereen placed seventh overall to advance to the finals, posting a time of 57.06.

Tyrize Claud placed fourth overall in the qualifying round for the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.12 to advance to the finals.
