Lions Top Division II Team at L-R Meet

NEWTON, N.C.-- The Mars Hill men's cross country team came in first among Division II teams and second overall at the Lenoir-Rhyne Meet Saturday morning.

Mars Hill finished as the runner-up to Division I school Radford. Alex Griggs was the Lions top performer, finishing second overall with a time of 26:41.76. Griggs finished just three seconds behind overall champ Ryan Farnan of Radford. Cesar Reyes also placed in the top five, finishing third with a time of 26:57.67.

Rounding out the Lion point earners were Eric Blackburn (seventh), Daniel Jezioranski (11th) and Kiel Bollero (16th). Jezioranski, a freshman, ran a time of 27:51 to set a new personal best in the 8K. Griggs, Reyes, and Blackburn turned in the top three Division II times at the event.

Three more Lions finished in the Top 25 of the race- Carter Benge (17th), Derek Gibson (20th), and freshman Chase Shermer (25th).
