Lions Place Third at Winthrop Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C.-- Mars Hill's men's cross country team placed third among Division II teams in the Winthrop Invitational, held Saturday morning.

The Lions earned 82 points in the race to finish behind Emmanuel College (32) and Alabama-Huntsville (39). Sophomore Alex Griggs placed eighth among Division II runners to lead Mars Hill. Derek Gibson added an 11th-place finish for MHU. Blaise Binns of Alabama-Huntsville was the D-II champion with a time of 24:56.16.

Griggs ran a time of 26:07.91 to lead MHU. Gibson finished in 26:26.81 to finish 11th. Cesar Reyes placed just behind in 15th with a time of 26:39.92.

Rounding out Mars Hill's top five were freshman David Jones (19th) and senior Brady Adcock (31st).

Mars Hill will compete in the Louisville Classic on Oct. 5 in Louisville, Ky.
