Men's Cross Country Ranked Second in USTFCCCA Preseason Regional Rankings
Mars Hill is second in the initial USTFCCA Regional Rankings
NEW ORLEANS, La.- Defending Southeast Regional champion Mars Hill has been ranked second in the initial United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) preseason Regional Rankings, the organization announced yesterday.
Mars Hill claimed the 2014 Southeast Regional crown over Mount Olive and Queens on November 20 in Montevallo, Ala. As a result of being in the top three at the Southeast Regional meet, Mars Hill qualified for the NCAA Nationals for the first time since 2010, earning a 27th place finish at the meet in Louisville, Ky. The Lions have won the South Atlantic Conference title for the past 18 seasons and were voted as the preseason favorite last week.
Mount Olive was chosen as the top program in the region, followed by Mars Hill, Queens, Columbus State, UNC Pembroke, GRU Augusta, Montevallo, Flagler, King and Wingate.
The Lions begin the 2015 season on Friday at the Covered Bridge Open hosted by Appalachian State.
