ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's cross country team earned a first-place finish at the UNC Asheville Cross Country Challenge on Saturday, October 01. The Lions dominated the meet, placing three runners in the top-11 overall. The meet consisted of Division-I competition such as UNCA, Winthrop, Western Carolina, and Campbell.
Nathan Jones paced the Blue and Gold as he was the first collegiate runner to cross the line with a magnificent time of 25:38.92. Garrett Farrimond (26:28.53) and Noah Allison (26:34.28) collected 10th and 11th place finishes, respectively. Brandon Beard crossed the line in 16th with a time of 26:49.16, while James Gilreath was 21st, finishing in 26:56.80.
Nick Resor has come on strong since battling an illness earlier in the season, collecting a new personal-best by more than 41 seconds (28:00.44).
The Lions will return to action on Friday, October 7 as they travel to the Queen City of Charlotte, N.C. to compete in the Queens Royal Invitational.
