Records Fall at Queens Twilight Meet
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Mars Hill men’s cross country team displayed one of its best performances of the year in the Queens Twilight Meet on Friday, October 07.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's cross country team displayed one of its best performances of the year in the Queens Twilight Meet on Friday, October 07. A total of 12 runners set a new personal-best on the year as the team finished in third place out of 39 teams, including first in the South Atlantic Conference, finishing two spots ahead of preseason favorite and host, Queens.
Nathan Jones absolutely blistered the course, not only breaking the Mars Hill record in the 8k race, but with a time of 24:07.6, recorded the fastest time in SAC history, while finishing in third place out of 365 runners.
As a team the Lions crushed their average race time by a whopping 28 seconds. Brandon Beard cashed in a 24th place finish with a time of 25:30.6 and James Gilreath finished just behind him in 27th with a time of 25:33.6. Rounding out the top performers for the Lions was Garrett Farrimond and Noah Allison who placed 31st and 38th, respectively.
The Lions have two weeks to prepare for the SAC Championships on Saturday, October 22.
