WBB’s Young Voted NCCSIA First-Team All State
SALISBURY, N.C. -- The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2009-10 College Division All-State Women's Basketball Team on Monday. Brittini Young, a junior from Mars Hill, was a first-team selection.
The second team All-South Atlantic Conference selection led the league in scoring at 22.0 points per game. She also topped the 1,000 career-point plateau during the year. In addition to her SAC scoring title, Young ranked among the top 10 in assists, steals, free throw percentage, three-pointers made and three-point percentage.
In 2009-10, Young broke three Mars Hill records and tied another. She set the records for highest scoring average in a season (22.0 ppg), most free throws made in a season (173) and most three-point field goals attempted in a game (11 vs. Vorhees and vs. Tusculum). She also twice tied the record for best free throw percentage (100%, min. nine attempts) in a game.
Young was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Women's Division II Bulletin yesterday. She was selected to the 2009-10 SAC All-Conference Second Team earlier this month.
Young was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team last month. Young was a member of the District III Second Team.
NCSSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, volleyball, softball and baseball.
