Lodge Hired as Women’s Basketball Asst. Coach
MARS HILL, N.C. - Jennifer Lodge has been hired as the new assistant coach of the Mars Hill women's basketball team, head coach Jennifer Williams announced. Lodge replaces Brooke Wilkinson, who was hired by Gardner-Webb for the same position.
"I'm excited about the addition of Coach Lodge to our basketball program," Nance stated. "Her enthusiasm, knowledge and experience will make an immediate impact on our players and program. She helped lead Gannon to a final four appearance, and the knowledge she gained from that experience will help take our program to the next level."
Lodge comes from Gannon University where she served as a women's basketball assistant coach for two years. She was an academic advisor, strength and conditioning coach, post coach, recruiting and scouting coordinator, equipment manager and film exchange coordinator for the Golden Knights.
During her two year tenure at Gannon, Lodge helped the women's basketball team amass 63 wins. Last season, the Golden Knights won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament Championship, advanced to the Division II Final Four and were ranked No. 2 in the country in the final USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll.
Prior to her arrival at Gannon, Lodge served as an assistant coach at Evergreen High School in Lyons, Ohio. The Vikings posted a 16-6 record during the 2007-08 season en route to their first Sectional Tournament title in 25 years and a District Tournament appearance. She also served as a Personal Trainer at the Wildwood Athletic Club.
In 2006-07, Lodge was as an assistant coach for the Hogsbo Basketball Club in Gothenburg, Sweden. While working for the club, her responsibilities included organizing team travel, game preparation and scouting.
A native of Port Moody, British Columbia, Lodge played collegiate basketball at Campbell University from 2002-2006. She played in 109 collegiate games, starting 82, and averaged 7.1 points and grabbed 463 rebounds during her career.
In 2003, Lodge was a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman Team and won the Calloway Defensive Award. She was also a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic Team in 2004 and 2005 and the Dean's list from 2004 to 2006.
Lodge received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Sport Science from Campbell in 2006 and a graduate degree in Education from Capella University in 2010.
