Booker Named SAC Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C.-- Mars Hill's Armeka Booker has been named the South Atlantic Confernece Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Booker recorded two double-doubles last week as the Lions defeated Brevard and dropped a tight contest to Lincoln Memorial. The sophomore averaged 17.5 points and 11.5 rebounds on the week. Booker now has five double-doubles this season and ranks third in the conference with a 16.6 points per game scoring average. This is the second time she has been named SAC Player of the Week in her Lion career. Mars Hill is 5-15 overall and 2-10 in SAC play.
In a 67-65 loss to LMU, Booker recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds. She followed that performance with 23 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks in a 63-52 victory over Brevard. Booker scored 14 points in the second half, as the Lions came from behind to earn the victory after trailing by as many as 11.
Booker also ranks fifth in the conference in field-goal percentage (48.7 percent) and is sixth in rebounding, grabbing 7.9 boards per contest. She is the first Lion to be recognized as a SAC Player of the Week this season.
Mars Hill will travel to Carson-Newman for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off this Wednesday, Feb. 11.
