Lions Picked to Finish 10th in Preseason Poll

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Mars Hill women's basketball team has been picked to finish 10^th in the South Atlantic Conference women's basketball preseason poll, which was released Tuesday. In a vote done by the league's coaches, the Lions finished with 42 points with Tusculum in ninth place (54 points) and Brevard in 11^th place (33 points).

Defending champion Wingate was picked to repeat after earning 123 points. Newberry (114), Lenoir-Rhyne (109), Carson-Newman (102) and Lincoln Memorial (91) complete the top five.

Head coach Sarah Jansen returns four starters and nine letterwinners from last year's squad that finished with an 8-18 overall record. The Lions kick off the 2014-15 season on Friday, November 14 at the SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge at King (Tenn.) with a 7 p.m. tip-off.
