Mars Hill falls to High Point on road

HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (0-2) fell to High Point (2-0) Wednesday evening on the road.
The Lions conceded 32 points in the first period as the Panthers shot 57 percent from the floor, led by Emma Bockrath's 10 points. Lindsey Edwards added eight and four rebounds. Mars Hill lone points came from five free throw conversions, two apiece by Alexis Pardue and Joyous Wilson.
High Point added another 21 points in the second period to carry a 53-11 lead going into the half. Skyler Curran led all players with eight points.
Tatum Boggs scored a period high six points in the third as the Lions put up 14 points. Brooke Vilcinskas collected three offensive rebounds, five total in the third frame. In the final period, Pardue scored five of the Lions' 11 points, going 2-of-3 from the floor and converting her lone free throw opportunity. Vilcinskas collected another three rebounds. Curran led the Panthers with six points followed by Bockrath's four.
The Panthers secured the 86-36 win, shooting over 50 percent in the contest.
Bockrath led all players with 21 points, adding 10 rebounds and five assists. Miya Bull also collected a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Curran ended the contest with 19 points.
Pardue led the Lions with 11 points and added four rebounds. Mariah Johnson and Boggs added nine and eight points, respectively. Vilcinskas led all players with 12 rebounds.
Mars Hill hosts Warren Wilson on Tuesday, November 20th in their 2018 home opener. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
