Lions defeated by Coker on road
The Mars Hill women's basketball team (12-13, 6-7 SAC) was defeated by Coker (14-9, 6-7 SAC) Wednesday night on the road by a score of 59-43.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (12-13, 6-7 SAC) was defeated by Coker (14-9, 6-7 SAC) Wednesday night on the road by a score of 59-43.
The Cobras doubled up the Lions in the first quarter, 20-10, with a balanced scoring attack. Jo Snow netted eight of the Lions' 10 points. Coker followed up their first by scoring 15 in the second, holding Mars Hill to just nine points in the frame.
The duo of Aaliyah El and Naja Ngongba scored four apiece for the Lions in the third. The Cobras outscored Mars Hill 14-10. Mars Hill, in the final frame, scored a game-high 14 points as Jaquoria Rucker led the team with four points. Tateyoina Harris and Maddie Gillie added three apiece.
Snow led all players with 12 points followed by six from the trio of El, Gillie, and Ngongba. Harris led the Lions with eight rebounds while Ngongba and Elyseia Brown each pulled down seven.
The Lions return to action on the road Saturday, February 17 when they take on Lenoir-Rhyne. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
