Aaron Fernandez was named the Mars Hill women’s basketball assistant coach in September of 2018.

Fernandez served as the head varsity women’s basketball coach at Owen High school for the 2017-18 season.  He recorded a 20-7 record which was second best in the conference.  The 20-win season and second place finish in the conference were the best marks by the school in over 10 years.

Prior to taking the head coaching role at Owen, Fernandez was the assistant men’s basketball coach at Tuscola High School from 2009-2017.  From 2009-11, he was the head coach for the ninth grade team and served as the junior varsity and varsity assistant coach.  He moved to head junior varsity coach and varsity assistant coach from 2011-15 and in his last two years at the school, was the lead varsity assistant coach.

During the 2012-13 season, the school won the conference, posting a record of 24-5.

Fernandez played three years at Tuscola High School and graduated in 2009.  He went on to pursue a degree in Health/Physical Education at Western Carolina University and graduate with his Bachelor’s in 2013.
