Kristin Kidd was named as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Mars Hill University in June 2014.
Kidd comes from Christopher Newport University (Newport News, Va.); one of the top Division-III programs in the country. As the top assistant she was involved in every aspect of the program. Kidd was a part of two of the best seasons in the Captains history during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. During the 2013-14 season the Captains finished their season in the NCAA Division-III Sweet Sixteen game. They ended the season with an overall record of 24-6 ranking, no.15 in the final D3 Hoops national rankings.
During the 2012-13 season the Captains won both the USA-South regular season conference championship and the USA-South tournament championship and reached the NCAA Division-III Elite 8 game. CNU finished the season with an overall record of 29-3 and a final D3 Hoops National Ranking of no. 5. Kidd departed CNU after two years with an overall of 53-9 and 2 NCAA Tournament appearances.
In addition to her on the court duties; Kidd was also responsible for the Captains academic progress. During her two years there the team ranked first in the athletic department for overall team GPA and held over a 3.3 cumulative GPA. Kidd was responsible for post-player development on the floor, was in charge of scouting each opponent, game-tape exchange and assisted in practice and drills. She was also instrumental with fundraising and was the co-director of the Captains summer camps.
Prior to her time at Christopher Newport University, Kidd was the youngest coach in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region X, helping the Catawba Valley Community College (Hickory, N.C.) squad to an 18-10 overall mark in 2011-12.
Kidd has either coached or played at every NCAA level. She will brings both Division-I and Division-II playing experience to her role at Mars Hill University. She started for the Blue Hose of Presbyterian College (Clinton, S.C.) from 2006-08 before transferring to Concord University (Athens, W. Va.) for the 2008-11 seasons where she was the co-captain and led the Mountain Lions to the third most wins in program history as a senior. She graduated from Concord University with a BA of Psychology in May, 2011.
Kidd got her start in coaching when she was nominated and selected as a participant in the WBCA "So You Want to be a Coach" program in April 2011.
